when I looked up my vin numbers for '78 F150, I suspected that the 460 V-8 was stock, but I didn't know it came with a 4 barrel carb stock, did they ever come with 2-barrels? I know my '79 Bronco i just sold had a 400 V-8 with a 2 barrel
There have been a couple of reports of factory 4V manifolds for the 351M/400 but they had experimental part numbers and probably were spirited out of some factory R&D center. The only US production manifolds were 2V manifolds with 2V carbs of course. You can check with the 385 engine forum, but all of the 460's I have seen had 4V carbs. The truck in a thread here supposedly has a 2V 460 in it. Calls it sluggish which may be from the 2V and maybe why all I have ever seen were 4V. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...g-on-ebay.html
The picture below is purportedly to be a factory 4V for the 400 the number on the manifold seems to be 13726548 which would be correct for a 400 and not a 460.

That's definately a 335 series intake. Possibly a 351CJ, but I would have to see the port size to verify that.
That Ebay truck has a transplanted 460 (came with a 400) with an Edelbrock Performer 4V manifold with a 2V to 4V adapter plate. No wonder it runs crappy.
The heater controls look just like the ones in my sister in-laws Geo Storm.
yep... all 460s had 4 barrel carbs from the factory... only the 429 had the 2 barrel option, so if someone says its a 460 2 barrel its either a 429 or has a 429 intake on it
