hey dudes, i just traded my pos chevy for a sweet 79 f-250, (read yay!) and have noticed that sometimes it struggles to start.
sometimes it turns over fast and starts right up, and sometimes it turns over reeaaallllyy slow. what is this? maybe the battery? starter perhaps? im clueless here. please help?
B-one, first thing to do is start checking your ground. The cable should run to the block. Also check the connections on the POS cable at the solenoid and starter. Does it do this when it is cold or after it has been running? If it occurs after it is warm it could be time for a new starter.
Actually go over these points of contact like any new to you vehicle
Battery connections both ends
Starter relay terminals and
mounting chassis (to ground)
Starter terminal on starter
Ground cable from cab to frame
Ground cable from engine to firewall
clean & secure all of these points
Recharge battery with a battery charger (do not try and recharge the battery with the alternator)
