Big radiator ?

Will the big 4 core radiator out of a '79 2 wd with a big block fit in my '79 F-250 4x4 ? It doesn't look like it will because the stock one is right up against the steering box.

Anything will fit, it just might take a little modification...

I would say no.

Stick with a 2 or 3 core.

The 4 core is massive and was never put in a 4x4.

There may be.....but, It wasn't put in there by the factory.

Is there also a fan shroud bolted to it ?

It depends on your core support and the radiator mounting flanges. Some core supports are made for radiators with flanges that mount right to the core support i.e. the fange is on the front side of the radiator. Other core supports have two supports spot welded on and the radiator fits between them i.e. the flanges are on the rear or engine side of the radiator. My 75 & 76 f250 4x4 360/4sp have the supports on them, my 74 f 100 2wd 390/air/auto has the radiator mounted directly to the core support as does my 77 f250 2wd 460/auto and my 79 f250 4x4 300/4sp and 75 f150 2wd 460 air/auto. the big radiator is thicker and taller. When i put one in my 75 I chaged to the different stlye coore support and had to notch the fan shroud by the steering box I wanted the bigger radiator for towing

Brad,

Yes, That's what I have in mine ..however, you need a fan shroud to go with it.

also if you live in a hot climate you will need to watch the cooling system carefully while sitting in traffic.

Is there any way to get one in here with this core support ? I plan on putting a big block in, in the future. The rad for a 351/400 is right up against the steering box. I should mention that this core support came fron a '78 f150 2wd with a 351/400. Maby it could be moved over some to clear the box ? I know they were never offered in a 3/4 ton 4x4 but maby there is some way around this ?

No problem.

I built half that city and couldn't get out fast enough in 2003 after living there for 52.5 years.

If you need rad work done ask me in the Alberta chapter.

Mark from the picture you have posted I can see you have the core support that mounts the radiator between the two suports,a super coole style radiator does not have the same mounts it mounts right on the core support.

I need a measurement from the core support to the back edge of the rad + the width & height. I don't have one & I don't know anyone that does.
