Edge or Subwoofer

I have a litle bit of extra money coming and can't decide if I should install a sub or get the edge. I know what I would be getting with the sub but the edge is a different story. I know it is supposed to improve performance but I don't know if it would be worth while since I don't have any other performance upgrades. I like my music with some bass but a faster and better running truck would be nice. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

whoa, that's tough!

I would probably go for the Edge, but I have a Volant CAI and Bassani exhaust, so as you can tell I lean more towards performance than creature comforts. You will notice performance increase now, even more if you plan on adding more performance mods later on.

However, I have upgraded everything in my system, with the exception of adding a sub, and it would be nice to get a good thump in my music. My only concern with the Edge would be warranty problems, should something come up. Price is comparable between each option.

Go for the Edge

The improved performance will open the door to new ways to tweak your ride. Subs are a dime a dozen and you could always find one for cheap.

We have the Edge tuners here at the Motorhaven shop:

Go with better performance!! The power will be noticeable even without other mods, but when you do add other mods you will be able to take full advantage of them.
keep us posted on what you decide

Thanks for the input. I have a follow up question. When you install the tuner and put it on level 2 or any level for that matter do you get improved performance as well as improved gas mileage, or does the performance come at the cost of poor mileage.

Thanks again, Reid

I don't have the tuner, but from what I understand, the higher the "level" of performance, the lower the gas mileage. Also, you may need to increase the octane of the gasoline you're using to 89 or even 93. Just a guess.

Get the EDGE...I run it on level 2 with 87 octane. I've only run one tank of gas run through it. Almost 100 miles of the tank was driving through the hills to Birmingham and back with a quad in the bed and a trailer w/ a dirtbike and quad on it as well as my two riding buddies.

I still got 15 mpg out of it, this includes the first couple days of really hammering it with a big grin on my face after installing it.

Now with the Magnaflow 16612, the truck is so much more fun to drive and performance is awesome. Now, just can't wait to get the Volant CAI I won in the giveaway....
