Coming home tonight, there's a hill that hardly anyone goes up at the speed limit (65 mph) I got around this dodge durango w/ hemi, and got to the next light where he pulled up next to me. Me being inda ticked off at him driving slow causing mee to catch the light I gunned it and left him in a thick black cloud . The next light he pulls up, starts to creep, and we both take off. He kept up till about 40, and then I pulled ahead like he had 4 fat chicks inside. This went on for two more lights, where I let him get ahead of me (I'd rather drive safe than stupid) I pulled up behind him, and he took off. I drove slow, caught him next light, and then smoked him again. Just to assert myself once more, I left off the pedal then mashed it again to clog up his air filter. Hemi what???
Anyone that buys one of those fell for a maketing ploy...
It's kind of like buying a Saturn. The cars suck but supposedly they don't hassle you when you buy one and people fall for it everyday.
Never in any of their commercials does dodge ever give horsepower ratings on those engines. They just always say hemi really loud and people buy them even though they're complete junk.
335-345 is announced HP on the "semi" hemis...Automotive News had an article on crank vs r/w HP...the Dodge Ram with 345 at the crank managed only 242 at the r/w.
btw...a stock Titan can usually take a stock hemi. Titan in the dyno tests had 305 at the crank...266 at the r/w.
come on guys, i got a 04 dodge ram with the hemi. i also have an 02 superduty that i just got. as far as getting it to outrun people, naw. i really just liked the truck. i will say, if they would have had the color i wanted, 4x4, blah, blah, blah with the 4.7, i would have gotten that one just the same. i will say that i could keep ip with a friend of mines f-250 untill he put his programer on, that was a different story.
I have noticed that the Hemi crowd enjoys the loud factory exhaust. I had a 1500 Crew cab 4x4 Hemi messing around with my slow 2006 CC F250 with 5.4 3.73 and Auto. I know he can take me but dang they act like they are all driving BMW 540's or Corvettes or Honda Civics
your right crabhab. its almost like they think its that much more powerful. like i said, i drive one, but i got it because i liked the truck. i think its kinda like hondas and stickers, the emblems make you faster

I remember a company I worked for a couple of years ago had a policy of rotating company trucks about every 3 or 4 years, and had deals with all the Big 3 (Ford, GM, Chevy). Of course the senior hands got the first choice. Well out of 17 senior hands, 15 of them traded their Powerstrokes for Dodge Hemi pickup trucks (the other two got new Ford gassers). Well out of the 15 that got Hemis, 13 of them took them DIRECTLY back to the dealer to have new rear main seals put in them. They ALL blew the rear mains, and they weren't even towing anything............
tru...and their tranny i heard dont go that well on the dodges ....now myself as a SD f250 owner.....5.4L ...wonder how come the diesel superduties out there release so much black smoke? is it meant that way ? just wondering about those out there f250 sd diesel owners....
It doesnt matter who makes the fastest truck,Car. We will all be driving electric vehicles once we run out of OIL. So who cares just drive what you like the looks of.

Thats the nice thing about diesels............they'll burn just about anything........including vegetable oil..........and will definately outrun any toy battery powered cars

Black smoke is partially-burned diesel fuel. In stock form, it's tough to get the newer diesels to produce any black smoke. However, when modded to inject more fuel for more power, sometimes there will be conditions when the engine isn't getting enough air to really burn all the fuel. Some doesn't get burned all the way, and that comes out of the exhaust as black smoke. It's basically soot/carbon, and slowly settles down to the ground. When lugged, they'll smoke more until the turbocharger catches up and gets enough air in there to burn everything. Hope that helps.
