would a cherry bomb on my 99 exped be extremly loud? ive been told that it wouldnt be that bad if i left the catbacks and exhaust on there. any experinces or input for an exhaust?? thanks
"Loud" is a subjective thing that only you can determine.
We had true duals with glass-packs (aka cherry bombs) on our '97 Expedition. They were loud. I thought they were too loud, but my wife thought the sound was just right.
I'm gonna try to add a glasspack to my 99 expedition this week or early next week. I am looking for a little growl but not so loud that it's annoying. I have stock exhaust, so I will simple drop the original muffler and add the glasspack. I'm trying to find some in my local area so I don't have to pay for shipping but I'm having no luck. Looks like Summit Racing is my only option.(15 minutes from the Tallamge Ohio store) If I get it done I'll post a sound clip.
Glasspacks come in various lengths. I've seen them from 12" to 38" and I'm sure someone makes even longer ones. The short packs have a loud raspy sound whereas the longer ones have a deeper, more mellow tone.
I should have mentioned that our '97 had 36" packs.
Well I decided to try straight pipes before buying a muffler. I think it sounds just fine
I might look into one of those glasspack tips and see what kind of effect it might have on the sound. I dont' think the camera does it justice but here it is anyhow.
