well i wont say it will make the injectors last longer, but it will cut down on the "bandaids" we techs have been applying by replacing sticking injectors. no harm is done, it is basically like a dog shaking off water after you give it a bath.
Depends on your programmer, I had 06E17 done last march on my 04, it took until October for Diablo to update and couldn't use my chip until then. It's OK know, But I thought the flash sucked. Poor response, nothing out of the hole and about a 2 second pause between shifting from forward to reverse. The reinstall of my Diablo fixed most of it. Don't know if I'll have it done again.
I just got a letter from Ford saying that My truck needs this "FREE" recall completed...they call out a 06E17 - Control Module Recalibration...what does it do??
went to ford dealer yesterday, sm stated that they wont reflash truck at this time due to pblms with truck running poorly due to our altitude, were at 7000 ft . said ford is working on a new flash , anybody else tole this,?
I just got the letter this week also, because I bought my '03 in September and now that the registration paperwork is done they found me.
I am looking for a good dealer close to Rockford, IL that can perform this job. I called a dealer in Janesville, WI (just over the border) that I have had good luck with on an F150. When I asked the service advisor about the problems that some people have had (reduced mileage, less power) he confirmed that they have had the same issues and that their success rate was about 50%. However, he did say that when people have had the problems they just re-flash them back to the previous software version.
Does this sound right, that some trucks will accept the flash and others just simply don't?
hmm hmm, I cant decide if I should have this flash done or not, My truck has always ran awesome and started fine in the cold with the stock flash, Is it worth doing to a truck thats been nothing but great?? I have manually purged my injectors when its super cold.
Once the truck is turned off, cycle the key to the "on" position for 10 seconds like 3 different times before you park it for the night. I learned that from someone on here, dont remember who it was..
Having read a bunch about this flash I called te dealer I bought the truck from to see if I had it or not. It has been done to my truck, I get about 17.5 MPG and power seems fine. If it's real cold out(teens, doesn't happen too much around here this time of year) I may get a little bit of smoke on cold start(didn't plug it in though) but other than that it's fine.
Had my excursion in getting the turbo replaced, the local dealer (45 miles away) did not have the equipment to perform the 06E17 recall, but then the service manager is a bone head. After being tired of his lies, and going in circles, the service manager said he was done with me and my wife, we could leave - he would not talk to us again. I called Ford and compained - but they didnot care. I called the next closest Ford Dealer (140 miles away). The service manager said don't do it and had me talk to his Diesel machanic. He said "Hope this is not being recorded, don't do it, if you do you will have back in shortly, then again and again and again, and these visits will not be covered under the warranty. He said it would run like a champ after opening it up, but it causes many other problems." He also said that you don't have this recall done - I don't think I will, unless something changes. Just what the man told me.
