Does anyone know if the flash that cycles the injectors for cold start is avalable for an early 03 6.0? I want to the dealer and he informed me that it was just for 04 and newer.
Personally, I do not want this latest flash (for cycling the injectors).
I have a March 1 built 6.0L Excursion and have every flash up to this latest one. However, I use synthetic 5W-40 oil and change it every 5,000 miles and I donot have cold weather problems.
By the way, I ran 15W-40 Motorcraft for the first 50,000 miles (2 winters)without any problems and all oil analysis reports came back good... so if you have no cold starting problems... you may just want to wait???
At the moment I have 15-40 Rotella in her. Here in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Albuquerque</st1lace></st1:City> we have wild temperature swings, one morning it will be 14 a few days later it may be 60.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
<o></o>
At 110,000 miles i do have a few injectors that are kind of iffy, I was hoping that the new flash would give me some more time before I needed them replaced. <o></o>
What about just loud injectors?
Truck runs smooth but very loud until completely warm. Injectors going?
I know diesels are loud but this truck sounds like a big rig when cold.
Not sure about that, Mine smokes, bucks, clatters, and in general she is pissed when it is cold!!, If it is warm, pluged in, or after driving every thing is ok. Takes about 3 miles to warm up.
BTW, she did like the 24 inches of snow!! No problems with traction!

if the ambient temp allows, try a thinner oil. the injectors are loud because of high oil pressure or thick oil.
I just told mine that I had a cold start issue while up in the Sierra's camping(long crank) and he said "no problem" and had it flashed. This flash is also supposed to cycle the turbo vanes at idle to keep it loosened up.
If you're still under warranty, then tell them that it runs rough for the first few minutes in the morning and it clears up afterwards. TSB 06-22-03 does include 2003 F-series, it's E-series that is not included until 2004 (because there was no 6.0 E-series in 2003). And if you're paying the bill yourself, just tell them that you want it done, I imagine that they would (or atleast should) charge you less than your deductable.
