Dual Batterys?

Can anyone explain to me about the dual batterys?

I am guessing maybe the 7.3 PSD needs a 24V starter motor to turn over & the dual batterys are provided standard, to that end?

It says in the manual, not to run 12V accessories off the cigarette lighter socket but to use the auxiliary 12V power outet socket instead. Is that because the cigarette lighter socket is 24 volt?

I am asking all this because I have a couple engel fridge power outlets in the rear cargo bay and was thinking of adding a fridge inside the cab between the seats for cold drinks, where the centre console is now, and a larger one in the rear for food etc when we go camping & fishing!

I am just wondering if I need to add yet more batterys and "Cole - Hersey "type isolator switch to isolate the two batterys under the hood, to preserve them for engine starting!

Can anyone advise, whats the electrical setup as it exists now and what needs to be done to add the fridges - using the power outlets in the cargo bay and auxilliary power outlet in the cab in as far as the need for yet more batterys and isolators etc???

I'd hate to have to try and push start a F 250 auto cause the fridge flattened the batterys overnight.

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers!

the batteries are wired in parallel so the voltage stays the same (12v) and doubles the amperage. it takes alot of power to run the glow plugs to fire the engine. the entire system on the truck is 12v.

The cig lighter shares a fuse with the PCM and the Aux. has its own wiring.

Thanks heaps guys!
Only had the truck a week and this is taking some figuring out!
I read the manual but it's a little shy in some area's on details!

Just trying to come to grips with this gal in my head so I can plan the toys a little better!

So far "nuthin's easy on a Ford" seems to be the first thing I'm finding out!

Cheers!
