OK... it seems I am loosing antifreeze... a fair bit.... lost 4L in 2 weeks... I see no drips on the ground ( have been looking under it every time I park and come back ) and have looked around all under with no real sign of a leak....
the good news too is there is no white smoke from the tail pipe, and no antifreeze in my oil...
any suggestions of where my antifreeze is going to??
Have you checked under the heater/carpet. The 6.9 is known for bad head gaskets, have you paid special attention to the back of the heads, under the waterpump, hose connections. Lastly what is the trans fluid level and condition.......
it may be burning it and you arent catching the odor. if you dont run it every day, let it sit for a day ... try cracking the drain plug slightly and see if you get antifreeze there. if in the oil it will settle to the bottom and come out first but dont let it drain fast. also if in the oil it will vaporize and go to the oil fill cap.
you may also see it running down the block somewhere and being boiled off from the heat of the block. it should show up as a white stain. check for that around the bottom of the heads. i would imagine that 4 litres in 2 weeks would be evident somewhere.
I used to be putting antifreeze in my truck all the time. I got to looking one day and I noticed a wet spot on the bottom of my radiator support. I started up the truck, pulled up a chair watched the radiator. Sure enough, it started dripping antifreeze from the bottom of the radiator. Note- it only did this after it warmed up. After further investigation, the hose clamp on the bottom radiator hose was just a little loose. After tightening, it runs just fine and I haven't had to add antifreeze ever since
