52 engine swap

Looking to upgrade my 52 F-3 to a more modern driveline (my engine is long since gone) Want to drop in a 460/C-6 combo.. anyone know of a company who makes the cross members for such a swap? my other alternative would be to weld up a set of my own, which is well within my my abilities and would be cheap. Anybody have a plan for the engine mounts/cross member for one of these trucks or know of a site I could visit that might help? (I know about the tranny mount already) any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

52 engine swap

I'd probably check Summit, Speedway, Cornhuskers, etc. Most of the stuff out there is for F1's so you'll likely end up doing some fabrication anyway. I'm not sure how much heavier the F3 frame is - I had my F1 down to the frame and would seriously think about boxing the frame for the extra torque of a 460. The flatheads only put out 100 horses and 180 ft/lbs torque.
The old ones also don't have the number of crossmembers newer trucks do. While you're working on frame details, tranny Xmember and engine mounts would be easy.
Let us know what route you decide to go - good luck!

52 engine swap

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Feb-02 AT 04:22 PM (EST)]I've managed to answer my own question when it came to doing the engine tranny swap into my 52 F-3. Was looking through my PAW catalog and found both the engine cross member (offered 3 styles) and the tranny cross member, all that for into 52 to mid 60's trucks. Should be able to get everything I need to drop in my 460/C-6 combo for under $150, it will take some fabrication and boxing, but not hard at all. thanks
