Save the Y Block even if it is a 239. Know a guy that has one that I believe will run. Drop in wile you over haul yours or use for parts. It is dirt cheep. PM me if interested and I will see If he still has it.

Thank you Raerjim. Good advice. Hey SpyFoxx, how's the rebuild of your 239 going? Any suggestions on where I should shop for engine parts? Any suggestions for my rebuild?

rnelson664, where are you located? There are a few places around that work on the old engines, but a location would make it more helpfull.

Any thoughts about it?
If you are going all original, by all means rebuild it. I went all original and had my 239 rebuilt by a local NAPA shop. Runs like a champ! Could have done it myself ,but, had too much other work on the truck to do.

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me decode my vin number. I just bought my 55 yesturday so I'm real curious about it the vin is F10N5H27702, I tried a vin decoder online that I found but it didn't give me all the info (engine, I know it was a V8 but right now it has a straight 6 in her). Also could someone tell me where I can find the vin tag on the truck, I've looked under the hood in the normal spots but havent found it yet. Thanks in advance....

Vin tag is on inside of glove box door in 55
F10 = F100 1/2T
N = Engine code N is not a valid code in 55 should be D, V, Z, J, or K
5 = year 1955
H = assembly plant Detroit
27702 = production # 27,702 unit made
