I have a 98 F150 with only 62000 miles on it and recently it started to die once I would slow down. There are no codes to pull and it idles fine and runs fine, until you start to slow. Plugged in a scanner and its showing a sensor not closing and does anyone know what sensor its talking about. Or know how to kix this problem.

There are no codes thats what is stumping me. No check engine light nothing. One second Im going 35-95 mph and the next second Im slowing down for a stop light and it just dies. Thats the only time the check engine light comes on and still no codes to pull.
No the radio stays on but if the lights are on they do dim. When it dies I get the check engine light and the battery light, thats it. But it allways starts right up after.
possibly your coil has a bad connection, or your ignition switch is on the way out, have you been finding you have to wiggle the key or any tricks of some sort
There is nothing for the scan tool to scan. THERE ARE NO CODES TO PULL!!!!
The check engine light dosent show up until the engine dies and then its just like you turn the key to accessories. The engine idles fine at a reasonable rpm, the engine runs fine up to shifting rpm's, its only when Im slowing down that it stalls or cuts out or dies, however you want to say it the engine stops running and its a smooth death to the engine, it dosent sputter, shake, or convulse, it simply looses power and dies. It still dies even if the tranny is in Nuetral. Once it died while in Reverse.
My 1999 F150 did this to me also, when you would slow down it would die. The alternator was dying. The bearing in the alternator were worn enough that it allowed it to drag and the voltage would drop and then the engine would quit. A new alternator solved my problem. Just an idea!
i have been have the same problem and i have changed the iac, plugs, plug boots and was looking at the cops. i didn't think about the alternator. do you know if the problem you had would show up on a volt meter?
sorry to jump in on this, but this may help navymadjew66 and me. thanks
Any auto part store would be able to tell if the alternator was putting out the right amount of volts and I didnt even think about the alt. Im getting ready to replace the wires and the plugs and the iac valve. I think Im going to get the alternator checked right before I replace everything else b/c Ive already bought it all.
Alternator for sure......my 98 did the same thing over the course of a weekend. The battery gauge will slowly fall over the course of days if you watch it close enough.
i will check and watch the battery gauge. i am going to use a friends meter to check current and voltage. if it checks ok. i am going to hook the meter to the lighter plug and check while i am driving to see if it drops. i will let you know what happens.
