Anyone know what type of carbs were used for the dual setup that was so popular throughout the flathead generation? I found the offie intake manifold, but want to find the carbs before I go ahead with the purchase. I was told that they used stromberg model 98's , but have not yet confirmed that with any reputable source. Thanks again
The traditional carb was the Stromberg 97's. But they are hard to find now. They weren't used for a real long time as the stock carbs on the flatties. You can use a Holley/Ford 94. They are easier to find and I've heard they actually flow a little more than the Stromberg's do. I see a lot of the '94's on eBay at some good prices.

thanks for the info. I am going to Carlisle in April and wanted to get all the info so I know what I am looking at. By any chance do you know what I should look for when buying an intake for my flathead? I really like the standard dual setup that offenhauser offers where the generator does not have to be moved. I'll look on ebay for those carbs though. Thanks again
Dual 94's work very well on a flatty but with 17 models you need to understand what is required to make them work together. Used prices are $10-20 + $18 for a rebuild kit. E-Bay is ridiculous.
A short dual intake is not much better than a single and some of them are too close spaced to use 94's. The wide spaced is nice and the offset genny brackets are readily available new or used. Its really a no hassle swap.
I have looked into the dual intake manifolds and I was interested in the fenton dual setup. The one I saw on Ebay was setup with 94's and looked spread out enough to work. Any thoughts? Thaks for the info though
