2006 F-350, 4wd, 6.0 diesel, automatic, supercab, long bed 13,600 miles. After truck has been sitting overnight while driving after a cold start-up as soon as the transmission enters overdrive a shake is felt throughout the truck until it warms up. This can be felt only in overdrive while driving and is best felt at speeds of 50-55 mph. It also seems that the colder the temp. outside the worst the condition becomes. It feels as though a cylinder is cutting out or missing. It has been back to the Ford dealer on three different occasions. According to the diesel technicians all is well with the engine however they cannot find a problem but feel there is one. Ford has been called and suggested to use 10w-30 motor oil. The oil was changed and symptoms are still there. A second phone call was made where Ford suggested that is problem is normal however none of the other vehicles on the dealer perform the same symptoms. In addition, after warm-up if throttled up to 1,100-1,200 RPM the shake can be felt but only slighty. Does anyone have any suggestions? Currently I am waiting for the dealer to get into contact with an engineer to investigate the problem.
Kiddy, how cold is it in your area.Ford has a recalibration for cold engine start up miss(or posibly shake) that goes away when the engine temp gets to operating level.the tsb from Ford 06-22-3,this might help.good luck
Recently it has been around 60 degrees however it has gone down to 30 degrees and the symptoms are worse colder. However it can be felt warm too but not while driving only if in park and throttled to 1100-1200 RPM. Thanks.
If you guys are referring to the update which cycles the injectors after shutdown I have had that done already. Is this the same reflash? Also, after the reflash I did not notice any difference in start-up performance as opposed to original programming.

Yes, thats the flash we were referring to.
If thats the case, you need to take it in for service and have them run a cylinder contribution balance check upon cold start. Any injector which fails needs to be replaced at this point.

i second that . obviously the service department just wants to dodg this issue with your truck.i dont enjoy working on these vehicles but, the customer has to be taken care of regardless .
I am not sure if that was tested or not but I do know that a labtop type computer was plugged in. All cylinders were monitored and according to the tech all injectors were functioning as normal. The tech stated that a spike or deviation from the shown line graph will be seen if something is out of line. I am currently waiting for an engineer to take a look at it as requested by the dealership scheduled for sometime this coming week. Hopefully it is something simple.
Update: After the engineer's advice the following injectors were replaced #2 & #6 which did not cure symptoms. #1, #3, & #7 were also replaced after the first two did not cure the problem. I just got the truck back tonight and could not feel the shake while driving but I still notice a slight shake while in park and throttled to 1100-1250 rpms approximately. Will try tomorrow morning to see what it feels like.
