Did a little surfing on the Warn #70480 front receiver hitch and could not find a photo showing installation on a SD.
Still looking for receiver that does not interfere with Fog Lamps or OEM License Plate Bracket.
Will this bad boy solve my problem?
I saw this reciever and it absolutely will bolt in without affecting your fog lights. The Warn technical service rep sent me the mounting instructions and it definately is the one I want. You do have to drop the license plate. There is hardware with the reciever that utilizes existing holes on the bottom of your bumper. Its a nice set up.

Reason: more info
I have seen the WARN, it bolts where the front blocker bar goes
I have the DRAW-TITE, it works well, but def blocks the factory fog lights
I installed an ORU Prerunner bar and I installed 2 Hella 500 Fog lights and 2 driving lights to the bar
I found one made my a place called CURT.. It says you can keep the factory lights and it used the blocker bar mounting points, but also has a bracket you bolt onto the front leaf spring bolt and sandwich the hitch. I like the way BRF250's hitch is up nice and high. My question now is, I already have a grille guard installed and wonder if it will affect the winch sliding into the receiver. What do you all think.. Will my current grille guard interfere?
From what it looks like, that lower cross bar, just above the license plate will be in the way.
If you look at the pictures of mine, you can see that I had to cut out the cross bar to fit the winch.
The other option, not the best solution IMO, is to get a short receiver extension to space the winch out and clear your brush guard.
The problem is that this will add a lot of leverage if you pull anything at an angle. A strait on pull would be fine, like if you were using it to string up fence, but......
If you're handy with a welder, just cut that lower cross bar and move it up, or just remove it period. Otherwise, it's gonna hit.
If you would like a copy of the install procedures (2.09mb) for the 05/06 SD drop me an e-mail address.
Does not interfere with fog lamps and also come with new license plate bracket, drill (4) 1/2" holes just like the most of the other hard permanent mounts.
Looks straight forward.
I just remembered there is a place in CA called Hell Bent Steel that makes custom bumpers and has a front reciever option. Don't know if it will work separately from their bumper (which to me lookes wicked cool, probably one of the classier ones on the market), but it looks like it aught to. It is probably worth call though. www.hbsteel.net
Just got done slapping the Warn 70480 front receiver hitch on the 06 350SD.
Me and a buddy 2.5 hours. Really no big deal.........the instructions need a little help:
1st Make some small witness marks below the tow hooks on the bumper mount and existing frame as this will aid in locating the bumper back to original position upon reinstallation.
2nd All of the hardware (bolts) for the license plate bracket to bumper and plate to bracket are to long, 3/4" (4 each) works a whole lot better than what was provided.
3rd Install license plate bracket before installing hitch into bumper. Bolt heads inside of the bumper w/no washers. It can be done after the fact ( trust me ) but is tedious. Plate can be installed after the complete hitch install.
4th Understand that the license plate bracket secures to the bottom holes of the plate NOT THE TOP HOLES. Therefore the plate only drops like an 1 1/2'' to 2''. Very sweet!
5th When step drilling through the steel remember lot o lube slow speed and lots of pressure.
6th Take the time to survey behind the plate before blowing drill bits through..............WIRING HARNESS'.
7th There are two lower bracket supports that attach with 7/16" hardware to the inboard sides of the hitch ( inside of the box channel ) that are to be installed at the end of the installation................It will be a whole lot easier on you if you if will loosely install the two 7/16'' to these brackets prior to the final stab of the bumper then you can tighten the remanding bolts.
On these lower support brackets it would not be a bad idea that once the bumper is off to locate where these attach at new receiver and blocker attach area..............it's a tougher after the assembly is up for good.
Hope this helps you guys that E-mailed me for the install instructions.
And on that note go back to sleep.
With the Bodiak double hook hitch bolted to BOTH tow hooks, if you need to hook to your front end to tow or be towed, it's gonna pull on BOTH tow hooks at the same time. There are probably other considerations if you're using a winch.

The problem with a winch on a removeable or multi-mount system is that most of them are limited to 9500 lbs. I had to double line mine a few times and pulling out my buddies SD the other night, I had to triple line it. If you don't have access to those tow hooks, you have no real good point to attach a ****** block or pullies to.
If you're jsut using it to move a trailer, you're fine.
Hmmm... Hadn't thought of it like that Rich. Good point!

That's one of those things that it would be a bad idea to find out about out on a trail....................buried................... .by yourself.......................no cell.................uhmmmmm, I didn't do that!
