i heard that the exhaust backpressure sensor can make the engine fluctuate (surging) well mine does and also when cold when you step on it, it bogs down and then all of a sudden it takes off and then it surges off and on till warmed up. i also heard that when you change gears or tire size about resetting computer. well i havent done that i didnt know it was manditory that you need to do. can anyone give me feedback
How much influence the Exhaust Backpressure Sensor (EBP) has over the engine's operation varies a great deal depending on the year of the truck's engine and what flash it has in the computer. The new flashes don't rely on EBP data very much if at all. You might do better to put that part of the thread in the 6.0 forum where folks more qualified than I can discuss it.
As to your axle and/or tire swap and it's effect on the speedometer, it is a good idea to have it corrected for the new size. Otherwise, the speedometer and odometer will be off. Probably of greater concern would be the fact that the computer would not have accurate vehicle speed data being fed to it. Most tuners will let you adjust the tire size and axle ratio, and I know Ford can do it by hooking it up to their computer. I would get it done if it were mine...
