the dash is welded in with about 40 spot welds on the lip of the windshield and then there are other welded brackets under and on both sides of the dash. amhik.

Are you talking about the soft black part of the dash or the actualy steel?

There are obvious bolts in brackets that keep the steering column in position as it travels through the dash - are you talking about those or how to get the steering wheel off so you can pull the shaft out?

im pulling the cab off the chassis so i'd need to disconect the steering coloum and pull it through.. thank you

Take the horn button assembly off the steering wheel and under it there's a big nut that you can back off, then the steering wheel will come off (probably will require the help of a steering wheel puller) and then you can dissasemble the column.

The instrument panel comes out and the soft part of the dash board comes out, but the rest of the dash stays.

Take the instrument panel out and you'll get a lot and better access to everything else, but all the switches have to be pulled individually - I think the bezels unscrew from the front - but I can't remember for sure.

unless youre doing something similar to what i did, you dont want to take the whole dash out. it is a lot of work. you should be able to gut the inside of the cab in 1 to 2 hours.

well i assumed that to remove all the parts to pull the cab that the dash would have to come out. found out that im wrong... but what im doing is keeping the complete wireharness from the cab i just pulled but cant seem to unplug them from the switches.... and this is where im stuck. thanks

on the switchs there's a button to remove the slider. i ran into this when i rewired my truck. you unscrew the bezel, slide the whole thing in as far as it goes and look for a white button. push that and pull the slider out.

to pull thecab just unhook the wireing plug to the rite of mastr cyl ,steerin colum at the steerin box ,brakelines at the master, then remove the front clip then there only 4 bolts under the cab that hold it to the frame.you dont need to gut it to pull a cab.ive done 4-5 cab swaps and only once even removed the front clip heck im about to put a 64 cab/clip on an 85 chasis and not even thinkin of takin it ALL apart to do it

I think moving the front clip with the cab is the only way to go. Saves a lot of time.

Oh man I just posted how I figured my pickup was like you-guy's and this thread pops up. :)

On my '75 the metal-dash unbolts from the cab. The factory left out the bolt on the driver's side and it squeeked to beat heck until I found it a few years later taking the dash out. :)
