I took the hound for a walk, and was driving around the back of the park I put it in 4-low to get the gears moving. When I come out of 4-low, it makes a mild grinding noise and doesn't seem to catch right away (it's done this before). Today, I noticed the speedo was disengaged while I was driving back home. Pulled over, ran it through 4-low, 4-high, and 2x, still no speedo. Ran it through 4-high again and speedo came back. Any ideas? I'm going to take it in this week for an oil change anyhow, but just wondering. Mileage is ~8300 for those tracking such things.
Same thing happened today, in 4W Hi coming down from Timerline, Mt Hood, switched to 2W as increasing speed to 55 - 60 on wet pavement and the speedo read 20 - 25 mph for about 30 minutes then snapped out of it and read correctly the rest of the way home....hmmmm...
My speedo also quit then came back in a few seconds and the ABS light came on also. Brought it in and there was a bad ABS sensor on the back axle. Sensor was replaced and no more problems.
