Intermittent speedo?
OK, so I'm driving down the road today and my speedo isn't working and my OD light is blinking. The speedo came back on after about 20 minutes of driving. Speed sensor crapping out? 2000 F350 CC DRW 4X4.

More than likely VSS sensor in top of differential. Pretty inexpensive and really easy to change.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Just wanted a second opinion. I've seen other posts on here with this problem but it seems that the ABS light is usually flashing also. I haven't payed attention when starting the truck to see if the ABS light comes on when the key is on before starting. The bulb may be blown, hence the lack of flashing.

Mine did the exact same thing speedo dropping out / no abs light on though. Speed sensor fixed it.

Same here. One bolt and the sensor is out.

Thanks guys. I will be replacing the sensor this weekend hopefully if I'm not working. Hard to find a lot of time with a job and a business! That's a good thing though, right?

Same thing here, knock out the speedo, abs and cruise. VSS fixed it.

Is the VSS the one on the rear end or is it on the tranny somewhere?

It is the one on top of the rear differential.

The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is on the rear pumpkin. The TSS (turbine shaft speed) and OSS (output shaft speed) are on the tranny.

OK. Thank you very much. I guess I'll go ahead and pick it up and slap it on Thursday when I do my GPR LED.
