4" Lift

I was thinking about getting a 4" lift in a kit but was wondering if I could just do a shackle drop in the rear with 2" coils in the front with 2" spacers?

no you are better getting a kit.
there are ttb drop brackets and radius arm drop brackets. you will also need swaybar end links and drop pitman arm at a mininum

About 2" is the most you can do on the front without a lift kit.

In addition to what's listed above, you need longer brake lines and longer shocks, too.

I went ahead and bought the kit with the blocks for the rear but plan on upgrading to the leafsprings later. Will I need shims for the rear or not?

You could just not use the rear blocks, and do a shackle flip.

It'd be about the same as all leafs, and you wouldn't have axle wrap that you'd get with blocks.
What are you going to do about brake lines? There are the ss extended lines, but their pricey. If you wanted to stay on a budget, then you could get a 8" hard line and two connectors and just add it to your existing brake line.
