Hello, I was thinking of lifting my 85 F150 4x4 2 inches. I was considering a spring lift or body lift but not both. Has anyone done a 2 inch lift on the F150? Any difficulties, such as fuel tank lines, rad support, transfer case shifter, or even getting the damm bolts out? I feel that a spring lift will be easier but much more costly.
well for $60.00 you can get the Daystar 2" front coil spacers and it will give you the lift in the front while still useing the stock shocks all you will need to do is get an alignment down and for the rear springs all you will need to do is do a spring shackle flip and you will get the rear lift that you want doing NO mods to the brake lines or the driveshaft.
To do the shackle flip you will need a torch or air hammer
look at the rear shackles on the truck and you will see the leaf spring eyelet is above the mounting shackle and you will see there are 4 rivots holding the bracket to the frame of the truck cut the rivots out and flip the mount over so the leaf spring is under the mount the rivot holes are the same and just use grade 8 bolts and bolt it back to the frame and you will need to turn the shackle on the spring 180 degrees so it travels correctly and remount the leaf spring to the frame mount and there you go. You have 2"s of lift in the rear and the springs will actaully handle a load better and your truck will actually handle better in the rear.
if you need a set of the Daystar coil spring spacers email me I have a set in stock

Hey, sounds like a cheap lift. I have never heard of that shackle trick. I live in Canada so it may be difficult to get the spacers from you. I will have to go out and look at truck and check out the shackles....sounds very curious.
