new fuel filter part #??

I just got back from picking up some new fuel filters from my local International dealer. I called them last week and they didnt have them in stock so they had to order them. When I got there I wanted to confirm they were the right ones and the part number matched except for the last digit. They're supposed to be #1847170C92 and these were #1847170C93. The guy told me that it was just a change to the prefix and it was probably a minor change like an upgraded O-ring or such. Anyone else heard of this before or ran into this situation? The filters themself look identical to what they are supposed to be so I still bought them but I want to make sure they are right before putting them in.

What is the International part number for the oil filter (and I can't wait for the search function to be back for this site)?

Oil filters are less expensive at Walmart.

You can buy either the Motorcraft brand (which I do) for $19.99/ea or the Fram for a few dollars less. Both are made by Racor which is the OEM manufacture for Ford/Int'l.

Not sure why Int'l dealers sell the same oil filter for so much more... but yet the fuel filter kit is less than anywhere else.

I buy oil filters at Walmart and fuel filters at Int'l dealer...

Many thanks for the info. The International place here was less than helpful when I told them I was looking for filters for my 6.0L Ford. In many of the posts, the word
oil
gets deleted and I couldn't tell for sure on a previous post if a filter number was for
oil
or not. Wal-Mart selling them will make it simple. Now I just need to figure out the reason some words get left out when replying to posts. I am sure it is something I should have learned by now …… For this post I will try the wrap quote function in the toolbar instead of typing quotation marks and see what happens.

Arrow IH here . . .

I am only paying $11.85 for oil & $31.51 for fuel filters (tx included)at the IH dealer here. It might be I have a TIN so they sell wholesale vs. retail? Anyway there are several places to get the right filter. O'Rielly's, (auto parts store) sell's oil filters for around $19.00

FYI, O'Rielly's sells the tranny external filters for $15.99 Motocraft (Pt# FT-145) & $19.99 Wix (Pt# 57702).

Will not use WIX... but thanks for the headsup on O'Riley's selling the Motorcraft secondary tranny filter.

Please explain...

Walmart sells Motorcraft Oil filters as well as the Fram's.... both are made by Racor, the OEM oil filter maker for Int'l and Ford.

What "Walmart filters" are YOU refering too???

He is anti Walmart... so any reference to where to buy oil filters or the like makes him upset.

I believe that he is in approval about using Racor made filters... just not to buy Motorcraft or Fram brands at Walmart.

The issue I have is that his personal, political, ethical, religious or import/export beliefs have no place on these boards... or at least in the 6.0L forum.

All I kow is that Walmart sells a Racor made filter and most users at FTE have a Walmart readily available to the them... hence the reason I mention Walmart.

Walmart is less than Ford dealer, less than Int'l dealer and depending on what auto parts store an FTE user has or doesn't have... Walmart may be their best option to buy a Racor made filter.

Again, this forum is about where to buy quality parts and who has competitive pricing... and it just happens to be Walmart for some of us.
