With help you can do it with general tools. I did mine in a weekend. It will take much of both days. The banks kit is engineered VERY well. They give you step by step instructions with pictures and they have thought of everything. Highly recommend the Banks kit.
It is a 100% bolt on kit. No cutting or welding needed. A torch will be handy in the removal of the old exhaust system. The banks kit only uses the OEM cat and cat lead pipes. Everything else in new.
I've got a sawzall, so hopefully I'll be able to get the stock pipe out. If not, my friend has a torch. Now all I have to do is convince my dad to let me do it. Your positive report (along with everybode elses) will definitely help!
Boxcar, the Banks instructions I have say to cut the cat pipe behind the flange so many inches if the flange is a late model in front of the cross member. True?
There is a difference for 1999 trucks only. If your 3 bolt flange is in front of the tranny crossmember it's a 2000 or later. If you have a 1999 you will use the existing 3 bolt flange. If you have a 2000 or later you will cut off the flange.
No. it was easy. Removing the cat with the pipe and I have a chain vise to secure it. With a hack saw it was easy. Just make sure you keep the saw square as you cut.
