setup with shocks

my 2000 f250 is somewhat bouncy on the road but it is equipped with airbags in the back to level out the ride when towing. i have 40 psi in the bags (i dont know which bags they are because previous owner installed them) and was wondering what shocks you guys have because i'm looking into swaping out mine for some new ones that are adjustable like the rancho 9000 rsx (incab remote). i'm going to check out my tires and make sure they are balanced which i believe they are. Would some king schock with res. work also or what you think?

Also does anyone know the torque spec on what the shocks should be?

first thing is air down the bags to 10 psi when not towing. Most around here will recommend bilstein shocks. personally I think they are mostly hype and a good shock like a Gabriel or Monroe is just as good. Rancho's are usually a pretty stiff shock and may not give you the ride you are looking for.

as far as shock torque good and tight will work just fine.

I'm happiest with my current set up...Bilsteins up front, and Rancho Rsx9000 in the rear. I didn't like the Ranchos in the front so I gave them to my neighbor for the Bilsteins best trade I've made.

I like the Bilsteins on my truck. Empty they are stiff at slow speeds. But loaded or highway speeds they are nice to say the least. I also put a set on my Dad's 99 F350 PSD and they aren't stiff empty because of his tool box full of stuff, goose-neck hitch, custom steel bumpers, steel headache rack and bedrail caps. That extra weight makes a big difference. But I opinion is based on OEM and Biltseins only. As they are the only two shocked I've used on mine and my Dad's.

Stock-height trucks use the yellow and blue ones. I have a 7" lift, and i use the 5100 series, which are silver. Superlift puts their sticker on a 5100 Series Bilstein and calls it the SS shock. Still even at the sale price of $110, you can get them for $67.50. I bought my spring hanger kit from Wheeler's Off Road, and they included them for $67.50 a piece. Some have had success from Eshocks.com
