leak onm5od

hey everyone,
i have a 95 f150, 2wd. i pulled the transmission about a moth ago to replace the clutch with a centerforce clutch, and i also installed a hurst billet plus shifter and replaced the shift rail plugs with metal plugs. however, i have now developed a leak. the leak is coming from the drivers side. pretty much, look at the fill plug, and theres a bolt about 2 inches directly back from it. thats where the leak is coming from. what is it and how do i fix it?

thanks,
Lee

Did you do anything else while you had it out? Like remove this bolt or monkey with it? I can't remember off the top of my head what it is for, but it shouldn't just start leaking for no real reson, the pressure inside this tranny is minimal.

Agreed. Did you remove it, possibly replace and accidently cross thread?

Remove the bolt, clean the threads. It SHOULD be high enough up that no fluid leaks out when you do this, as I seem to recall it being slightly above the fill hole? A little teflon tape should seal it up good.

That being said, the Hurst shifter is known for it's issue of not having a pressure escape like the stock shifter does, so the pressure in the transmission has to go somewhere.

no i didnt touch this bolt. i just wanted to find out what its purpose is before i take it out... i dont want the results to be catastrophic. as for my shifter, i actualy installed it about a few months before the clutch issue came up, and there were no leaks then, except for the small leaks around the 3 rubber plugs. this vheicle is prolly gonna be heading for storage in about a week or so, but i still wanted to get this problem figured out. thanks for all the insight so far though...
