I have a 79 F150 300-6 4x2 C4 automatic that needs a flexplate put in it. All of the parts houses I've called around to have two listings for the flexplate, one around $35 and the other around $60 but no one can tell me the difference between the two plates.
Deal is, the truck doesn't have a flexplate in it right now so i can't take the old one in to match them up.
The two PN's i keep getting are FRA206 (Ford # C5TZ 6375 T) and FRA210 (Ford # D5TZ 6375 A). Both of them have 164 teeth, 12 pitch, 0 oz. balance, and a 14.23" diameter.
If anyone knows which one i need I would really appreciate it!
It would seem the difference of each flywheel, is each would mount to a different transmission (torque converter).
One is made during 1965 and the other is made for a 1975.
I would guess that it's a difference in bolt pattern to the torque convertor. I believe that FRA number is probably from Pioneer Products. I'll try to check my book when I get home.
Well, the only two automatics available in trucks in 79 were the C4 and C6, right? If so, is there a different stud pattern on a C4 converter as compared to a C6 converter?
well far as my experiences go there is two different flywheels made for use on a c-4, one is for the small bellhousing having 157 teeth on it, the other is 164 tooth, the difference is also shown on the convertor bolt pattern, the smaller is 10-1/2" the other is the same as a c-6 11-7/16" as far as i know thats teh only difference in the two, but you say the pn's they give you both are 164 tooth, thats kinda strange, also you gottta watch out for the goddang balance, whether its a 28 oz or the 50,
T/C bolt pattern is the only dfference. and to make it even better the c4 had two and the c6 was different. (good luck) been there with my 77 bronco , ( which is a bronco specific flexplate) there were also ring gear changes but you covered that.
