guy's i need some input here. I am stuffing a 460/c6 into my 49
F-1 pickup. I would like to know if any of you guy's out there
have seen this setup before. I need to know what kind of troubles
i will run into installing headers. should i use shorty's from a
fox body kit or long tubes. I have 28" between the frame rails,
and r&p steering. Also if you guy's have any of the headers
mentioned before laying around and don't need them i'll buy
them.Used or new if you think they will fit.

Hi ! A 460 is tight under the hood. But it will fit with a little work.Im running a 1990 460 EFI fuel injected engine, complete with power steering, air and stock hedders. A 1990 5 speed standard trans. the main thing i had to do to the body is replace te firewall,I made one It now sitts back 3 inches. But everyone says it looks great. Cant really tell on the inside of the cab. And im running a f-5 radiator. If you run a EFI you need the gas tank also.because the fuel pump is in the tank. And the fuel lines are pressure rised. But if its power you want this is the way to go !! This truck is a 1952 Mercury M-5 dually. All the cabs and front fenders are almost the same. The next biggest thing I want to do to it now is drop it. With 16 inch tires , the running boards are about 17 inches off the ground. Kind of looks like a 4 wheel drive truck.Yes the truck came with 20 inch tires. I like to get it down to 5-7 inches like normal.
Good Luck !!! Tracy Go 4 it !! Yep im a gal, with the little I know,If I can do it I know you should be able to,don't you. I build my whole truck from ground up. Everything but the paint.
Sorry I did not get to your message earlier. I'm building a 1/2 ton
f-1. Should be plenty of power with this 460. Lot of work done to it.
It's lowered, 308 rear gears, M II suspension, C-6 aut just ought to be fun when it's done.
