My 2007 F150 5.4L is stalling. I start it, then the engine light comes on, battery light comes on, then it stalls like it's starving for fuel. I let it sit for an hour go back and it starts right up and runs fine. This has happened four times in the past year. I've called my local Ford garage and they have no idea why this could be happening. The only common factor in the instances is that twice it was cold and raining, the other two times was after it went through the car wash. Has anyone heard of this happening?
More than likely it is an ignition issue. Your truck has a COP (coil over plug) for each spark plug so finding out if one of them is the issue might be difficult. At first I was thinking it may be fuel related but not too likely if it happens when wet or cold. Have someone read the codes to see if it is throwing one. there may be codes even though there is no check engine light. I bet that will isolate your problem. If not don't wash it and pray for warm weather! Kidding, should not be a tough one to get to the bottom of.
***i am not saying this is your problem, but your symptom sounds familure.
If you can check to see if there are any codes, and whoever does the check it is important to write down any and all codes even if they dont relate to the issue you are having. I have stumbled across a few vehicles that eventhough there is no misfire i am finding one or more of the coils are sending out too high of " RF " the only way they can be identified is by performing a stress test on each of the coils.
*The best way to tell you why this can happen is that "RF" can screw with the PCM causing misfire, poor running, shut downs or even crank no start.
Let me know how it works out, good luck.
