Hey again folks! I have a 85 F150 4x4 stepside with a 351w and I am having a new exhaust made and I was wanting some opinions on the best exhaust for it. I have a Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb but other than that nothing major in the way of mods....yet. All opinions welcomed. Thank you!!
my friend straight piped his 95 351 f350 and its really loud, lol, i have stright pipe on my 84 150 wiht a 302 out of a mustang that was rebuilt with eddy carb and intake, that lead into no cats and then into two big glass pack resonator type mufflers then out to three inch stacks, sounds badass, should heard it with no mufflers at all, sounded like a top fueler
Get some high-flow cats(if you have to have them) and then just run 2.5" pipe with a cross-over all the way out the back. It will sound better without cats, but it will have a deep rumble at idle, and then make your hair stand up when you punch the gas.
my 69 sounds purrrrrrrrdy..... 360 with some home-made 2" well-pipe all the way from the manifolds out behind the wheel.... it made more sense than doin like my buddy did and spendin like $300 to get his done. To each their own, as for the 53, im going to to stick at least 5" stacks behind the cab...might have to put some flowmasters in front of it because that 302 will bark like that.....i'd love it, but the cops wont
on my 86 f150, 351, i cut all factory exhaust off up to the manifolds. i then ran 2.25 inch duals both down the passenger side, put on two 31 inch thrush magnum glasspacks, and bent the tail pipes out infront of the right rear tire through 2.5 inch slash cut tips.
it sounds badass, deep rumble at idle, even deeper rumble under light throttle, and very loud rumble that turns into cackles under full throttle.
if you can, long tube headers and no cats will make the sound all the more sweeter.
im runnig long headers into indivual glass pack on a 400. sounds good. but when i get the money up. im going to have some 3.5 4" tips put on. im sure that will diierently give me that loud azz sound im looking for.
I ran two 2" pipes after the cat and had them come out just behind the rear wheels on both sides. I have the same carb and intake and it sounds nice and mellow until I get on it and then you hear the roar.
