opinions on exhaust

Im looking to replace a broken stock exhaust with a 4" s.s.. was planning on buying the MBRP 409 stainless turbo back from Riff Raff unless you guys would sugest something else or from somewhere else. I have ordered from riff raff before and they have always been great so planned on getting it from them. Is the MBRP the best in the $500+/- range?

That is what I have on my truck. Clay will be the best price with the best service. No way to go wrong with that choice. IMO.

Give Clay a call and have a look at this. Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: 7.3L Diesel Exhaust Systems | Powerstroke Exhaust System | Ford Powerstroke Diesel Exhaust Systems - Exhaust Systems

Im really not worried about the $10 since Clay is a sponser here.

I looked right past that "free shipping" add probably 30 times this morning.

I would like to do a 4" exhaust too. But I dont want a really annoyingly loud exhaust. How loud is that exhaust compared to the stock exhaust? I dont mind a little more turbo whine.

I have the aluminized MBRP and my engine is louder than the exhaust from the drivers seat. You can hear the turbo nicely whisteling away if you open the passenger side rear window and drive past a building.

Great recording! My camera couldn't capture the whistle effectively. I also like how the truck twisted on the suspension with torque. That's a Superduty suspension yielding to a tuned 7.3L simply clearing its throat. Major drool factor.

So your keeping the "Flapper" in the elbow off the Turbo ?

I looked at that exhaust system and some others like it but eventually went with the Banks 4" Exhaust and their "Power Elbow" for the turbo.

I'm aware there are many cheaper alternatives but I couldn't see any benifit to keeping a flapper in the flow stream directly behind the turbo that only gets used during warm up on cold mornings.

And No - I didn't think the cost difference was out of line when I factored in the addition of the Power Elbow and the increased flow it provided
