Rear "city"/style bumper on my `79

I know LMC offers a style (I call them city) bumper for the rear. A buddy has them on his little `79 2WD shorty, but he's not letting them go I'm wondering where to get the brackets to install that style of bumper ???

I don't think they're being produced anymore. I'm assuming by "city" you mean the chrome rear bumper that looks similar to the front bumper. My '75 has one. I would check the salvage yards. Although around here pretty much everything got crushed when the scrap metal prices went up. Sometimes i'll even look for an old truck sitting in someone's yard. Sometimes they'll part it sometimes not. Also, the brackets may not be that hard to fabricate by a good machine shop. Try Ebay also.

Most bumpers use the same brackets, If they don't LMC should offer new ones, If they don't call a metal fabricator of welder, any reputable one should be able to make you a pair quickly.

Yes I do mean the chrome rear bumper that matches the front. As far as I know, the brackets are completely different from the step bumper. Ain't chit left in bone yards around here.

Also, the brackets are different from the ones used on the Broncos,
Best I can tell, the Broncos bumper hangs down a little more to clear the bigger tailgate.

The "city" bumper was also used in the 80's,
it does have a different mounting pattern (the bumper itself to the brackets is different).

I know my 1965 F100 had that as an option,
so maybe finding an older one might be easier for just getting the brackets (remember that the earlier frames aren't as wide as the nerwer ones).

I would probably just get some made up,
easier in the long run.
Just my $0.02 though.

Try looking up stuff at Blue Oval Truck Parts, a sponsor to this site.

I assume you are talking about this type of bumper here...

http://blueovaltruckparts.com/catalo...e.php?pID=6618

This bumper is basicly identical 1964 to circa 1986, but the mounting holes are drilled in different spots, is why they are different.

They do have brackets for this bumper, but I do believe they are listed for the 64-72, and Highboy however.

They do have a toll free number, and I do know some parts will interchange easily with other models that they sometimes don't list there. Not too sure about this instance however. Worth the time to call and find out info perhaps? Or check with your local Ford parts man for assistance.

A good partsman (Getting fewer and farther between I'm sorry to say) that is willing to help can look up parts even if they are obsolete and tell you what can interchange with what, or if there is a modern updated equivelent. etc...

You can find the number for BOTP and search for parts here:

Hope this helps,

Not all bumpers are the same.

Frame widths and mounting re-design /ecstetic design make them different.

Yuppers, that's the bumper I want to install. Thanks for the tips, I'll dial 'em up tomorrow and see what they say.
