I have the rear tank out of my 88 F250 to clean it out and replace the pump. On top of the tank is a small plastic valve that my Haynes book calls the "emissions vapor control valve". I need to replace this as it appears the pieces that hold it in place are long gone and the dealership lists it as a discontinued part. Places like Advance and AutoZone have been no help either...I may take it with me to NAPA today to see if they can help.
Anyone ever had to replace this or had to get what it takes to remount the valve onto the top of the tank? I could just close of the small hole and not reconnect it, but I think this may have something to do with pressure in the tank so I don't want to do that.

If you plug it you will have to replace the gas cap with an old style vented gas cap. Your gas cap has a one way valve to let air in but not out.
If you do this (use a vented gas cap) do not park the truck inside or gas vapors can build inside and BANG.
