poor cold running condition
94 F-150 2wd 302. I get cold engine poor performance. I start the truck up, I usually let the idle come down before I start driving, but for the first couple mins of driving, the engine is sluggish and one thing I notice, I have a tiny exhaust leak at the y pipe. When I am getting this couple mins of sluggishness, the exhaust leak get way louder.
What I am thinking, maybe its a sensor problem causing the a/f mixture to go nuts till the engine gets warm. What else would cause the exhaust leak to get much bigger (when its warm and normal running, you cant hear the leak under any load really) <-- this leads me to think the Cat is fine, if the cat was clogged it would have poor performance all the time right?
I have a hunch the ETC sensor might be going, could this cause this poor cold running issue, something with closed loop operation, and furthermore, could this cause the exhaust leak symptom.
anyother avenues I can look into?
seriously, you need to pull codes but i still vote ect.
maybe a corroded or loose connection that when you were playing with the air pump it fixed itself.
what in particular did you do to the air pump from the other forums recommendation?
