We have a 55 with a 56 grille and have run into trouble with the park light housings. Can anyone quantify the difference in the gravel pans so that I know which one I have?

Todd.

Just a questionon the grille subject.
I have been looking long and hard for a 55 grille. Why are these the hardest parts to find? Even the major catalogs dont seem to carry them. The truck I bought doesnt have any of the front assembly except the radiator mount. And I havent seen any catalogs with complete parts lists for the grill assembly.
Would appreciate any info on all of the parts required. Fromthe hood lock piece down.

Thanks

There are two styles of gravel pans for the different park lights. The difference is in the shape where the parklights go. One for '53/'54 and one for '55/'56. '53/'54's use the same parklight assembly, but I think '55 has one style and '56 another, the difference being in height, but they do look the same at a glance. You might look on some of the suppliers websites to varify that.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Jul-02 AT 01:27 PM (EST)]I put a 53 grill in my 54 which I built from a 54 and a 55 combined.
I could not find a decent 54 grill when I needed it, but had an opportunity to trade a used gas tank for a 53 f250 grill. Everything worked out ok. I just bought new parking light assemblies and gravel pan.

You can see it on my gallery.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Jul-02 AT 01:28 PM (EST)]I'd think there should be more good '54 grilles around. Everyone seems to change them out because they consider them ugly. I'm keeping mine though. It seems to give it character. I did have a '55, and you're right about trying to find a good one for a '55.

I guess what I am hearing is that there is no difference in the 55/56 gravel pans--any thoughts?
