The lady in the park admin office told me they would let in the people from F100 Elites at 7:00am, but the rest of us would have to wait until 8:00am. So, anytime between 8:00 and 10;00 should still get you a nice parking place. By the way, did I mention that all the parking is on pavement and there are even a few shady spots?? John
I doubt I would be able to get there by 8am if I drive up early Saturday morning. So I will drive up Friday night, and just find a place to park the truck.
I had a long talk with one of the officers of the Delta chapter of the F100 Elites last night. He told me that the show is officially scheduled for 9:00-3:00 on Saturday the 31st. We'll be pulling in about 8:00am so that we can get good parking spaces. If you are not entering a car/truck in the show and just driving your regular vehicle then parking is no problem at all. This place is really big with two parking lots. The one on the west is for the show vehicles. So, just show up when you can. They have a local caterer who will be selling some breakfast items (biscuits and gravey) and numerous lunch items. The chapter has done very little advertising for the show but plans to be handing out hundreds of flyers at the Pleasanton show next weekend (March 24th). I will be sending in an ad to the Sac Bee to help get the word out to Sac locals. I hope to see a good turn out of FTE people there. Are there any horse shoe fans out there? I can bring my set if anybody's up for it. (The park has several nice pits right there behind then BBQs. John
Sounds great Jag!!! Good job.
I wont get home from work until Saturday morning, so Friday night camping would not be do-able. Wouldn't be able to show up until later in the morning as well. That kind of messes up the plans I made with the wife. But I will talk to her when I get home tomorrow about making plans that coincide with the event. Hopefully we'll still be able to swing it. I'm pretty sure we can. A good showing of FTE folks would really be cool.
I'll be there with bells on...well, not really but I guarantee I'll have something on...
I'll be bringing assorted dead animal parts for BBQ'ing purposes, as well as anything else that looks good. I can also bring some charcoal, I think I still have some even though I mostly use gas these days. I like real charcoal, not those briquet thingies...
I just called a friend in a local F-100 club and he said the meat is on the March 31, The last saturday of march. Any one else have any info on this I would like to atten. Thanks Dave
The address for anyone who wants to mapquest this park is 11793 N. Micke Grove Rd. in Lodi. It is right off the 99 just south of Lodi.
Dan, I'm a neophite on charcoal. You say you have charcoal that is not brickets? You already lost me. Oh well, I'll just watch and learn like I do with most everything technical in my life. John
Hey all, I posted an invite to Southern Cal and Nevada Chapters. Due to distance, most all probably wont be able to show, but being neighbors, I figured it was a good thing to do. Just letting ya'll know.
Is there anything more on plans for the day, plans for the weekend, etc... I haven't decided if I am bringing my camper or not, as I really don't know what the rv parks are like out there. On the map, Camanche Lake looks interesting. Also there are a couple of rv parks Pigfarmerdk1 pm'd me about, (as well as on the link earlier on the thread), that look interesting. Is anyone else planning on camping? Where is the best spot? I'm thinking of something that has campfire rings and water near by. Another thought might be to find someplace where we can meet up later and make a little noise and not bother campers next door??? Anything going on Saturday night after the rendezvous at the park? Are Tigerdan and AndyM going to bring there guitars/mandolins etc and bang out some tunes around a campfire? Where's the BBQ going to be? At the park during the event, or afterwards?
Even if the Saturday event is all there is, with the BBQ at the park, and nothing planned afterwards, I think it'll be a good time. But I thought I would get a sense of what other's are thinking.
Mike, I'm gonna try and get that 460 into my Super Duty from the back of the 74. I don't have an engine puller so I may not be able to move it. But I'll try and be resourcefull. Hopefully I can figure out how to move that beast. It is rather heavy. I need to get that over there to you guys. It's occupying the bed of my work truck and I need to use it soon. Hopefully I can deliver the engine/trans to you at this meet. Or to Dan? Either way, hopefully I can bring it over there and send it on it's way to the project site.
Just some thoughts...
I'm scrambling for that weekend, Daughter has a horseshow on Sunday, and Saturday is a big prep day for her lessons. I could probably still run up and meet you at Micke Grove, I could put my hoist in the pickup for a swap if you're able to get the engine loaded.
I wouldn't be able to spend much time with ya'll, have to make it an early day in order to get going early on Sunday morning for the show.
Man, I can't believe it's already been over 3 months since you guys pulled the engine.
I will be bringing a camper, only because I will not have a place to put it, nor a way to take it off the truck once it is on there. I have thought about driving up Friday night, and camping out but I don't know if I will have the funds for the campground fees, so I may end up leaving early Saturday morning. I don't play an instrument, but can stay most of the day and into the night if we have somethng planned.
