If it is still cranking at less than 100 rpm, then you probably need a starter. If it is cranking at more than 100 rpm then it should register on the tach. If it's not registering on the tach and you're sure that it's cranking fast, then try swapping cmp's and check the wiring for the cmp. If it is registering on the tach, then look for an oil pressure reading on the gage. If the gage is reading pressure, then go to the front of the drivers side head and you'll see a sensor sticking out at a 45 degree angle towards the fuel filter. Unplug it and try again. If it still doesn't start, you're going to need a diagnostic tool. If you end up needing to take it somewhere make sure you tell them that you unplugged the ICP sensor, or it will throw off their diagnosis.
Have fun!
If you get it turning over 100rpm and have tach movement check oil level in HPOP if the oil level is low there is not enough oil pressure to run the injectors. Jeep1947
Oh, almost forgot. If it starts after you unplug that sensor, you need an ICP sensor. It will run but you won't get a lot of power with that sensor unplugged.
I think if your showing oil pressure its got enough oil in it.
There is some type of sending unit on it.
And supposed to be an allen bolt hole. but I couldnt find it on mine.
I pulled the sender out.
I filled mine all the way to the top when I changed out my injectors.
This shouldn't be rocket science. The starter turns over the engine, period. It doesn't need a computer or sensors to do this. If the engine is turning over slowly, then something is wrong.
You either have a really hard to turn engine, weak batteries, weak starter or the cables are not making a good connection. Starters draw lots of amps. Amps is the key to this problem. You might be reading the right voltages everywhere but without a good solid electrical connection then you won't get the amps necessary to do the job.
You can try this as an experiment.
1. Take a set of jumper cables. Connect the negative post of your battery to the engine block. Then try to crank your engine. Any difference?
No difference?
2. Remove both ends of the jumper cables.
3. Then put one end on the large post of your starter. Be very careful that this post cannot touch any other metal of the truck. Connect the other end of the jumper cable to the positive post of your battery. Then try to crank your engine. Any difference?
- Have the batteries load tested with a load tester. (Amps testing)
- Remove and clean all cables going to starter and going to the ground of your engine and the frame of the vehicle.
- Remove and test the starter off of the engine. (Negative post of the battery to the metal case of starter. Positive post of the battery to the large post on starter. Short a screwdriver between large post and small post on starter. Warning: Put your foot on the starter before doing this because its going to want to jump around when it starts turning.)
- Put a socket and powerbar on the crankshaft bolt and try manually cranking the engine to see if it is seizing or binding in any way.
ok so im going to buy a new starter, even though the one i have tested fine but ill buy it anyways, i found one on ebay, what do you guys think of this one?
Hey you didn't run it hot or anything the last time you parked it did you? Is the oil dirty? Rub some oil from the dip stick on your finger and look for tiny glitter like pieces in it. That would indicate bearing failure which does tend to make a motor hard if not impossible to turn over. Hope this helps

UPDATE: still cant get the truck to start. Replaced starter. But it still doesnt want to turn over, It cranks fine. all fuses are good. I dont know what to do anymore. I still cant get smoke to come out the tail pipe.
