Hmmm and your sure your getting power on the load side of the GPR? and fuse 22 is good? I think you may have another issue going on here... Does the tach move when your cranking it over? If not its the CPS thats toast.
If it's cranking too slowly the PCM won't enable the injectors. The computer needs to see a certain rpm before it will let the injectors run. You should probably get your starter tested.
Electronics are funny that way, good one minute then pooched the next... Some guys have had a CPS go 200,000 mile some have had them go in 20,000 miles. Is your truck still cranking slow??
For the no tach movement, do you have a buddy around that has the same year truck? You could try his CPS, not sure how to test them other than possibly retreiving a code... As for the slow cranking, it could be a bad cable to the starter, a bad connection, or the starter itself is getting weak...
theres a few trucks around here with the same body style, i dont know about the same year. but i have an old one i had taken off b/c i thought i had shot that one but i think it is still good
Found my hard start checksheet, and it has to be cranking at a minimum of 100 rpm to enable the injectors. If you're still having trouble with a good cmp, you really should check out the starter.
Ok, you said it cranks for about 5 seconds and then really slows down. You say that the batteries test good. You have checked the cables and they all look good. You say it still cranks slowly. You say no smoke is coming from the tailpipe. Let me be clear here, it will not start if it is cranking at less than 100 rpm. No fuel will be enabled (hence no white smoke) unless it is cranking at at least 100 rpm. I have seen 7.3's with weak starters and good batteries crank at 93 rpm for 2-3 minutes straight and they won't start. There are other possible reasons for not starting, but if it's cranking slowly, then that's where you need to start.
i tend to agree w/ spike on this one.when my starter went bad on mine she cranked slow, but would not kick.even tried my 800 amp boost attatched, still slow crank,no go.changed starter charged up batteries and wa-la !!
but i went and exchaged the batteries yesterday, they were still under warranty. but it still doesnt want to turn over. Thats why i think that it could be the computer
