guys with big trucks - spare tire???

what do you do for a spare? i have 37's and while i remember reading that a 37 might squeeze under where the spare goes, i dont think that will work with my 4" exhast. so do you just throw one in the bed, or is there a better idea to save space?

37" tire will not fit in the spare tire cradle underneath the bed. Best bet is to get a rack on top of your truck and stick it up there or throw it in the bed. That's all I got... good luck!

Get the biggest spare you can (that would fit under the bed) and use it like a mini-spare. For emergency use only - just to limp a few miles.

My 35'' BFGs fit in the Spare area, my suggestion would be to have a 35'' spare then if you get a flat make sure they about both 37'' on the rear and run the spare on the front but only to get you somewhere to fix the 37''

I have 33 inch BFG's mounted on Centerline Hellcats on my 99 and there's no way a spare would fit in the spare area. I ordered an extra rim and when I replaced my tires I kept one of them to use as a spare and have it in the back but am trying to figure out a way to mount it. In an accident that spare could fly right through the rear window and into the cab, which is something I wouldn't want.

I bought a 4x4 spare tire mount from Fabtech and am trying to figure out a way to possibly remove the factory tie down brackets and have a piece of metal fabricated that will mount in those holes and then mount the Fabtech spare tire mount to it.

I run 35's on my 250 but I have a 33 inch spare under the bed. It fits with plenty of room to spare. Could you possibly fit a 35 or a 37 deflated under there?

I carry an electric air pump so I can air up after wheelin' it. If you do to then a deflated 37 might be a good idea.

deflate the air and then mount it in the spare tires location,(would that work?) drive around with an air tank to fill it up when u need it. and hope the tire dosent fall off the rim. but you might as well drive around with the spare in the bed..

4" exhaust won't give you much room to play with a spare. I still have the stock spare tire that came with the truck under there, and I can't fit any bigger with the 4" exhaust in the way. I know that in an extreme emergency I can use the spare on the front, and limp to a tire shop.

hmm,. i have a small air pump (the little cheap kind) wonder if that would work - it would take awhile i guess.

ohh and bigsky - if i do put it in the back i plan on tieing it to the tie downs on 2 sides. to stop it from flyin out.

I've tried to fit a 35"(35.3") Super Swamper SSR in the spare tire area with no luck. It pushed hard on the exhaust and the trailer hitch. I believe that without the trailer hitch it would've probably fit. Now I have my full-sized spare chained-up and locked to one of the factory tie-down rings in the bed, up toward the cab.

I've seen these, but I'm not sure I want one. --> http://www.tiregate.com/ <--

I've got 3" of clearance from my 33" spare under the bed. I don't think a deflated 37" tire could fit there... you'd have to stuff it up there, and 2" of tire is quite a bit to stuff... but as long as you have the beads seated on the rim, it might work. Never seen or tried that though.

Hmm.. I wonder if there is a difference between models. I have the factory spare in mine and there is at most a 1/2 inch of clearance around it. The tires I am running are a lot taller and wider so I know it won't fit. I even remember getting the larger tires installed.. while it was on the stand I asked the guy if one of the larger tires/wheels would fit, he looked up and said "no way".
