I could really use some help with trouble-shooting procedures/tips to figure out why my wipers get stuck on. While I am using them in the intermittent mode, they will switch to the steady (slower) speed. I can switch to the faster steady speed, but I cannot turn them off or go to an intermittent setting. They even stay on when the truck is off (and the key is out of the ignition). The only way to stop them is if I pull the fuse. Once the rain stops, and I drive around a while, they begin to operate properly (something getting wet? loose wire?).
This problem started 6 months ago, then it stopped when I pulled out the motor and reinstalled it (disconnected the wire harness). I thought that this somehow "reset" the system, but now the problem has come back. Disconnecting the motor no longer does anything.
I tried replacing the switch on the steering column, but that did not help. This is a 2003 Super Duty 250. Everything is stock. Any suggestions?
