Problem with intermittent wipers

Need some help guys.

I have a 1978 Ford F250 I am restoring. It's an honest to god Ranger XLT but it didn't come with intermittent wipers. So I jumped on ebay and bought a used setup that included the control box and switch.

I finally wired it up and I don't have low-speed or intermittent (I am guessing intermittent uses the low-speed, so I believe they are related). High speed works fine. The motor is also okay because if I manually apply 12 volts to the white wire, the motor runs fine in low speed.

If I put it in low speed - nothing. If I put it in high speed and then while the wiper is mid position switch it to low, the wiper stops. If I switch from high to intermittent, the wiper will return to park, but won't go further.

Now, I'm sure this isn't the first documented case where someone sold something on ebay that was broken without admitting that, but how do I determine if it is the switch or control box? Any tests I can run? I no longer have the original 2-speed switch.

The wiring on the control box is different colors and I dunno if a simple continuity test from +12V to low speed is sufficient.

Can anyone lend any help>

Two questions, are you using the correct intermittent switch (turns counterclockwise past off to set the delay) and is it installed in the dash?
The switch must be grounded for the intermittent part to work and it grounds through the metal dash.

Twodifferenttypesof windshield wipers, twodifferentwiperswitches. Two speed wiper switches have alow&high speed.
Intermittent(delay) wipers were optional on 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79Bronco's. Intermittent isnotanothername for low speed!

Most likely there are some bad solder joints on the circuit board. In most cases, it's a simple matter of resoldering the joints to restore normal function of the wiper governor module.

I most definitely have the intermittent wiper switch with ground lead and accompanying governor module. After watching the video and comparing, it appears I have an 80's model. The video led me to believe this isn't a problem and should be a direct swap - correct?

How hard is that? Will it be obvious what I need to solder? How do I open the module?

Okay, now two questions of my own. First, if it is indeed a poor solder joint like suggested above, would that cause low speed AND intermittent to fail?

Second, if I were to just bypass the governor module altogether and hook my switch directly to the truck wiring (like non-intermittent trucks, but using an intermittent switch), what would happen?

Because I did already, and nothing changes. Low speed still doesn't work.

The Ford truck delay wiper governor modules are pretty much the same THROUGH 1991.

Thanks all for the help.

I opened the governor box up and had 3 cracked solder joints. I fixed those and everything is functioning as it should. Thanks.
