Just bought a nice 84 F-150, 2WD for a second ride. Auto/AC/Tilt/Cruise.etc. Sometime in it's 107k miles the 4 bbl. and the EGR was removed...and an adapter and 2 bbl. installed. Mileage is horrendous..and performance is a bit lacking. Would like to go back to 4 bbl.....and what of the EGR ?...Thanks
as for the carb i would go with a 4 barrel ... 4 smaller holes compared to the 2 with a 2 barrel ... just keep your foot outta it and you should get better milage with it .. asn the egr valve ... i hate emission devices expecially on older trucks they sucked lol imo what i think you should do is put a performer intake on it with an edelbrock 4 bbl i have that setup on my 5.0 and it runs great
yea i have the eddy intake and carb set up on my 302 but my carb is the 600 cfm with the performance jets and let me tell you i get 8 miles a gallon doin 55-60 on the highway and obviously less in the city and i do most city driving then anything, so when i get some money im gonna get the economy jets, so dont tell me about gettin bad gas mileage.
I would try and determine if you are tuned properly before swapping a bunch of parts. You'd be surprised how much economy you can pick up by running the proper A/F ratio and having the timing set properly.
