Hello everybody!!
I need some help on how to set or reinstall the Gears and Timming chain?
Me and my brother rebuilt my 215 ford engine, But guess what?? We made the two gears mark be alligned one against the other, without taking care the chain position.
Now I am very sure that timming is not as easy as we thought.
I really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.
Ignacio
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Aug-02 AT 11:03 AM (EST)]According to the shop manual, both timing marks are aligned at approx 3o'clock to the centerline of the crank/cam shafts.
If the repop chain is like the original there should be two links that have bumps or holes in them with 5 normal links between them. These special links line up with the timing marks on the gears.
If the chain isn't specially marked, count 12 pins between the timing dots. Don't worry, what you did is a common mistake on these early sixes and Y-blocks.
