Power Brake Booster mounting

I'm upgrading the brakes on my 1967 F100 from the current manual discs/drums to power disc/drums. I have a brake booster and master cylinder from a van that I thought would fit, but no luck.

And looking at the mounting holes from the manual master cylinder, I'm wondering if I'll need a bracket to mount the power booster and master cylinder?

The hole in firewall has two holes to either side and a set of four above it. The booster I was trying to fit had four bolts set above and below the plunger arm which do not match up with the ones on the firewall.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Does the proper booster/master cylinder have the mounting bolts in a different location? Will I need a bracket to make it work? Is it possible I would need to put in new holes?

You need the brackets, that is why the master cylinder is not mounting up correctly. Maybe someone here might have a spare set or you might be able to find a set in a junkyard. I think the brackets from the 67-72 bowties will even work. Let me know and I can take a picture of what they look like when I upgraded my '68.

Jon, The vans had concerns with room and have unique parts. The booster might work but you will have to have a pickup mounting bracket for sure.

Yeah John, I was taking a shot, I had the parts for free and they looked like they might do.

I'm not sure it would work with a bracket though, as it was firewall mounted on the van and with a bracket, the plunger arm won't reach the brake pedal. Or maybe the pedal would just be lower to the floorboard? Hmmm.....

(BTW, the J. is for Joshua. Shhhh, keep it under your hat.)

I think I was thinking about another poster when I used Jon, sorry. I named one of my sons Joshua, so I'm good with it. I wish more guys would use their names here.

The boosters may have the same mount, I don't have one to compare, but I know there is a firewall bracket for the pickups that will have to be used.

good luck

John
