I just replaced my factory stabilizer with a Fabtech steering stabilizer around $45.00 and that includes the hardware...I believe Rancho has one also at the same price range...and I did notice a slight improvement with the change,..hope that helps !
I'm running the Rancho RS5406. It's bigger and beefier than the stock, but it's still a bolt on replacment. Even came with the relocation bracket that replaces the original. On and off road it has worked great.
I just replaced with a monroe. They were the only one I found that was black and ordered a black boot with it. about $40 from NAPA. bolt on replacement.
works great so far. Stock was actually leaking..
I would buy it elsewhere besides Rocky Mountain. I order one from them for my 05 SD F250 and received someone else's customer return stabilizer. All mount parts where there and stabilizer was serviceabile but was missing the decal for the body. Called to Rocky wanted me to return the whole thing on my dime for refund or exchange. I decline and called FABTECH directly trying to get a replacement decal. Was not impressed with FABTECH either as they seemed bothered for such a request for a decal and got the "checks in the mail" response of them sending me a replacement decal. Been 4 months and no decal. Stabilizer does work good though. You will also need to order a seperate boot if you want one as the stabilizer pack does not come with one even as standard.
Another complaint I had with Rocky was that their online ordering is not all that automated. Received no noticed of when item was shipped or tracking info. I ordered the boot the same time as the stabilizer and they dropped shipped both parts from two seperate location with both arriving at seperate times and with no invoice. I received the boot first and thought they totally blowed off my the stabilizer which showed up the next day.
I purchased Rancho stabilizer and it is about 4 tims the size of a stock one. It also came with a boot. I had a he*& of a time removing it. The Rancho went on easy!
No, some will be a direct replacment and perform as the stock one did. Others will be beefier and help give you the stock feel when running larger sized tires. The single units like the one I have are recommended for up to a 35" tire, which is close to the tire size I'm running. Going up larger in size and it's recommended to run a dual stabilizer setup. On the flip side, running a dual stabilizer setup on smaller tires is overkill, but some find that it looks cool.
