Ok, i just had a weird thing happen to me while driving home from work. my 02 PSD kept stalling while sitting in traffic. i put it in park and restarted with no problems. the first thing that i thought of was... "there goes the CPS!" and i dont have one in the glove compartment. The truck was warming up to NOT. I noticed that i had a quarter tank of diesell left and was wondering if that could be the problem.
my truck is bone stock and runs like a dream and has always been rock solid. it has 98k on the clock. the lie-o-meter said that i had 73 miles to empty. i filled up the truck at the next gas station that i could find that had diesel and the problem was gone.
and as luck would have it i had one of my buddies in the cab with me who is a chevy guy. after i've been spouting off on how great our PSD's are and then when he finally gets a ride with me the darn thing stalls...
i guess my questions are:
1. has anyone had this issue before?
2. could that much air be getting into the fuel line with less than a 1/4 tank to cause the engine to shut off at idle?
3. replace the cps anyways to quell my hyper over-reaction to stalling?
4. time for the hutch and harpoon mods?
thanks in advance for everyone's help. this is a great place to get information on our trucks!
Keep the CPS and tools in the truck. Drive it to see if it happens again. If it only cuts out again at 1/4 tank or less, then it's time for the hutch mod. If it happens any other time, change the CPS.
I would deffinately reccomend the hutch and harpoon mods if for nothing else than PM for the injectors. Get a 60 dollar CPS off EBAY and keep it in the truck. If it was the CPS causing it This will happen more and more frequently. This is the start of the

It just flat out died. put her in park and started right up and went. next red light, died, started right back up and found a gas station. only took 23 gal of fuel, so i wasn't completely out. not a problem after i filled up. i guess i wont let it get down to a 1/4 of tank from now on.
