'cuz there ain't one in the dash. There IS a boost gauge, there IS a ampmeter. No pyro, got one in my pod, Tranny temp is in the dash, but I tow, so wanted to see the temp, not indicator. Satisfied? Everyone has there own thing going....that's MY thang.......
Got ya but I wouldn't trust the "dash" Tranny Temp or Boost myself as I have put them in as a Pod given the guessing on the dash.
And why is Oil Temp so important to you? Of all the guages you can install I'm wondering why you chose this one?
Boost I get
Tranny Temp I get
Pyro I get
Volt meter I get
Oil Presure on dash
H2O temp on dash
So why Oil Temp?
IMO engine oil temperature is the second most crucial gauge on a diesel engine, over a coolant temp, boost or transmission temperature gauge. It is the FIRST sign of overheat in one of these engines, and high oil temp will do more damage that excessive ECT will ever do in its dreams. Something that is highly overlooked likewise...
I have a engine oil temp gauge and it has been 190-211F with the outside air temp about 60-65F not towing and with no load. I have the digital guage from banks which hooks to the OBD port on dash. My gauge is never below 190F when driving at speeds of 45-70 mph. On a long hard pull like a big mountain it will go over 200 ease. Yesterday, in got to 211F on a mountain here in eastern KY running about 65-70 mph. Is this high?

I don't have Autometer, I have Stewart-Warner. But doesn't make any difference, it's still a single wire. I'll bet S-W makes a two-wire probe tho.....ummmmm.
