i just recieved my Auto meter gauge kit for my 2000 ford excursion with a 7.3 and i am wondering if the trans may have a fitting that i can pull out to install the probe....or do i have to remove the trans pan and drill a whole and weld a bung on it?? thank you!!!
The sender goes in the test port on the left side of the trans just above the pan in front of the shifter linkage. I have Autometer gauges too and ran the wire from the sender up the cable and into the cab past the boot on the floor.
There should be a 1/4" NPT plug in a test port on the driver's side just behind the gear selector assembly. You can put your sensor in that port if the threads are the same.
Edit: mueckster is correct. It's forward of the gear selector. (my bad)
