Is it normal to have poor power steering preformance when turning sharply from a stopped position and engine idling? It takes two hands pulling hard to get the tires to turn. It seems that the pump is not pumping the power steering fluid! Otherwise it's a great truck.

I've noticed recently that my 04 CC seems to be having power steering issues. The pump acts like it's "slow" to work when in a sharp turn. Is there a recommended interval for changing the powersteering fluid? I am on stock size tires and 2wd
it used to be a 30,000 interval. i am not sure what it is now. its like any other fluid out there, the more heat it absorbd the more it wears out. pull your stick and see what it looks like. if its dirty or funky smelling its time.

Yes, it can be normal if fluid level and look is OK.
The brakes and powersteering work of the same hydroboost, or something like that. At idle, it is trying to supply line pressure for steering and braking... which makes steering harder. I notice it when trying to parelell park my Excursion in a tight spot. Problem even seems worse when your actually applying the brakes at idle and trying to steer at the same time.
My truck from day one will not turn the front wheels if the truck is stopped. When I start to move the truck and once the front wheels start to rotate then no steering issues are noted.

That sounds exactly like what's going on. Is there an after market product that addesss this problem?

That doesn't sound right at all. Kinda like what issue I had the other day, but it's the first time in 73K miles I've ever had a problem.
