im thinking of putting some ford racing headers on my van to help get more hp for towing and also more mpg .if anyone has done this yet let me know if the diffrence was noteable . thanks guys
I put Summit shorty truck headers for a f-150 on my 93. They bolted up to the stock y pipe okay. I haven't noticed any additional power or MPG, nor did I expect any. I kept the complete stock exhaust including the original 137000 mile cat. The only reason I went with the headers was because of a cracked manifold.
In short, for a stock motor I doubt you will notice anything at all. Maybe a slight difference with a full exhaust, but I have put headers and full exhaust on other cars and it didn't feel different (although it sounded sweet). While the factory manifolds might not be the best design, those engineer's that thought them up are pretty slick.
